The concept of PVC coated fabric

PVC coated fabrics are fabrics made from polyester scrim and coated with PVC. They are the most popular coated fabrics for architectural applications. Architectural PVC coated fabrics are most commonly made with a liquid PVC coating on both sides of the scrim. This is done in a blade coating process.

In many cases, finish coats provide better stain resistance by sealing plasticizers in PVC that would otherwise migrate to the surface and make it sticky. Some finish coatings provide additional UV resistance, thereby extending the life of the fabric, while others provide a stain-resistant surface.

PVC coated fabrics also lead to further coating customization. At the most basic level, most coatings not only make the fabric more durable, but also waterproof. Textile manufacturers have the ability to customize outerwear for any fabric to meet a variety of needs, from simple mildew resistance to powerful needs such as fire resistance. This opens the door to experimentation and further customization of the durability features your product has.
